Loving Louisiana

I must admit...I do my fair share of complaining about the state we live in. Why are we at the top of the obesity and cancer rate lists and the bottom of the education lists? Known for our crooked politicians and wild parties (and let's not forget...Hurricane Katrina) sometimes i can convince myself we have it bad down here in Louisiana. But lately I have been noticing the beauty of this state. I'm finding if you look, you can find as much beauty as you can destruction. And although I do crave a good getaway from time to time, nothing can compare to home. And as long as my family is here, I will continue to love Louisiana!

Aunt Lindsey and Bram

Charlie's sister, Lindsey, and her little boy Bram came for a visit. We had a great time and Avery and Bram played and played. I always enjoy spending time with Lindsey and Avery thinks she is a real life princess. I am so happy Avery will grow up with a 'cool' aunt with a great sense of style. I'm sure she'll be with us when we're picking out those 'important outfits' in many years. I only wished we lived closer together. But we sure did enjoy our time together!

Avery's First Dance Recital

Avery started dance this year and every practice I looked forward to "the big day". And what a wonderful day it was. I couldn't be more proud of this sweet 4 year old girl! She wowed me, as she always does. On days like this, my cup overflows!

Avery got to try on the costume to show the class...she was pretty pumped!

Dress rehearsal night...

A really quick photo shoot on the way to ballet...don't tell the Biedenharn ladies she got IN the garden - ooops!

My tiny dancer...

She knew how pretty she was. Striking poses left and right!

After the recital...exhausted and still smiling!

Outside at the Civic Center after the show...

Avery and Nonna, who took TONS of BEAUTIFUL pictures that night. Thank you, Nonna!

Rollerskating

Avery received a pair of roller skates from someone that Charlie works with. She LOVES them. I, on the other hand, am terrified. "Let's go skating!" I hear on a daily basis. So, we strap up the laces, hold on tight and skate down the driveway and down the sidewalk. She has enjoyed it so much, she was in the mood to strike a pose for me!
