Birthday Party - Lessons Learned

Avery was recently invited to a birthday party for a classmate. I figured the whole class was invited so I would get to meet a few of the other PreK moms. It ended up being more like a family reunion, plus me and Avery. For 3 hours. Oh, the things we do for our kids.

One lady came in and said "Here is birthday present for B (the birthday girl). I brought one for H (her daughter) to open too. At this age (4), she just can't handle other people opening presents." I think my jaw dropped and I was stunned. I just HAD to tweet it. Well, in case you aren't aware, here is the rule: If you are brave enough to mean tweet about another mom and her child's behavior during present time, be prepared for your sweet angelic preschooler to act.a.fool during present opening time. We had NEVER had a problem with this before. As the Good Book says, pride comes before the fall. And boy did we fall. After I spanked her butt we both took a long nap and woke up in better moods!

Lesson Learned

Never ask your hubby what he wants from the grocery store, unless you really want to know. Can you say RANDOM! And please note the time was 5:50am. Who wants french onion dip and shrimp cocktail at 5am. I mean really!

I think one of the greatest gifts in my marriage is laughter. Charlie can make me laugh harder and faster than anyone else I know. Even random texts like this crack.me.up! Goodness, I love this man. :)

Breakfast Date

Some mornings I have a hard time getting Avery to eat her breakfast. So, every one in a while I cave and we head toward the golden arches. This is one place where I know she'll leave with a full belly. Nothing better than an early morning breakfast date with my favorite girl, even if it doesn't involve Starbucks coffee.

Ahead of the Game

I usually decide last minute about what to do for Halloween. But i just happened to be browsing at Target and found something Avery and I both liked in her size and it was a steal. So, we are ahead of the game this year. An owl she will be!

Welcome, Fall!

I was pretty excited one morning when we walked outside and realized Avery needed a sweater. I love FALL! That means my birthday is close then Thankgiving and Christmas. It's the most wonderful time of the year, y'all.

Mani/Pedis

And she was such a good girl for her first real manicure. Given by the professionals! We had to have pretty nails for her first wedding.

Homework is FUN!

Who knew PreK had homework? Well, Avery is certainly happy about that. In fact, the days she doesn't have homework she is pretty bummed. I'm sure in a few years, that will wear off. ;)

We had a fun time creating her family tree. Although it's a small little tree it sure is full of LOVE! I enjoy getting to create things like this with her and I'm sure these will be the keepsakes that I cherish the most.

Dance Time Again!

This year, we were going to do Fall Ball (t-ball in the Fall) but it was cancelled due to lack of participation. Back up plan? Dance! I am really glad it worked out this way. She was so excited to go back to practice. This year, there are TVs set up so I can watch the entire practice. It is so cool to see how she interacts with other kids when mom is not around. She is a little social butterfly. She ran right in with these kids she's never met and they were playing ring-around-the-rosey before class even started. Have I mentioned lately that I'm a proud mama? ;)

I realize I'm biased but if this isn't precious, I don't know what is. Worth the click!

First Day of School

On August 27, 2012 Avery started PreK 4. I couldn't be more thrilled with the school or her teacher! She was so precious in the little school uniforms. She loves school and had a great first day. I am so proud of my big girl and she is already learning so much. I am taking her to school every day and Charlie picks her up. I still walk her in every day, I'm not sure if she will walk in alone this year. When she feels comfortable doing it, I will let her. Until then, Mama Bear to the rescue! She went right in and found her seat and started coloring. No tears for her. Only a few for me, as I pulled out of the parking lot and realized I'd never walk a baby into their first day of PreK again. New experiences like this are so bittersweet. I loved watching her be so independent but what I wouldn't trade to hit the rewind button and do this all over again!
