My friend,
Dewana, mentioned that Addison had tried out markers. I didn't realize Avery was old enough to use markers but thought we could give it a try. I'm always looking for something to keep her attention while I cook at night since Charlie is still working and these days I can't let lil Ms. Climber out of my sight. She enjoys unloading the dishwasher and cabinets, eating snacks in her highchair and using pots and pans to make her 'own supper' (she loves to stir anything in a pan!) but I wanted to do something fun for her. So, off I went to Wal-Mart (bleck) to find washable markers and a big art pad. Avery had a blast! She also tried coloring on the floor and doors, thank goodness for washable markers! I just gave her a Clorox wipe and she scrubbed up the mess. I'm telling you, this child lovvves to clean. See what I mean...?
After she colored on one of the doors, I wiped a little of it off, but she insisted on doing it herself - she is also Ms. Independent these days. So, I let her give it a try and she did a great job!
Doing the damage...I figured why not take a pic before I tell her she can never do it again! Honestly, it wouldn't bother me if she did color on the door b/c it comes off so easily, but I doubt Ms. Tina (the sitter) would appreciate us encouraging bad behavior!
Oh, did I mention she tried to eat it and color her neck and mouth at one point?
Don't worry...I didn't try the Clorox wipe on her! ;)
Just look at that face, I had just taken the marker from her!
Finally...success! "Good girl Avery, we ONLY color on PAPER!"
She was not too content with just paper, always looking for something else to color!
But I think she had a great time, don't you?
She totally did not get the concept that the towel wouldn't take the marker off the paper!
Working hard...
Avery's first picture (in marker, at least!)

Ha ha too cute! Send her to my house I have some windows that need cleaning.
Be sure you date that first masterpiece!
Em's so funny!
You know they do have markers that ONLY color on the special paper, right? Try those and she will not be able to get it on her clothes, face, carpet, etc. The grandkids have them and they really work, but only with the paper designed for them. Be careful with the Clorox wipes. If she touches her clothes, it'll leave bleach marks. Learned that with my kindergarteners. =)
Avery looks so cute in her dress! The red marker matches!! You must save that first masterpiece!
Just be sure to hide all of your Sharpies! ;-)
Hehehe - she is so cute. I remember when mine decided to make herself a work of art and colored all over herself - it was really funny and thankfully washed right off.
I think you should frame the red art work. It matches your red wall! Um also I dont think Nonna will appreciate the wall coloring thing either. I am with Tina on that one. Cant wait to see her tomorrow!
Love it!!! :) We always used Crayola Colour Wonder markers and paper. they can colour all they want other places, but it only shows up on the paper! :)
Looks like she had a good time :)
Maybe I should try those little markers instead of the round egg-shaped ones that I got for Addy...
That's awesome. :o) I'll take some of her love for cleaning. I could use it.
How cute!! I also saw that wal-mart had something called "kadoodles" little fat markers/toy looking things, for babies. I think I am going to get them for Amaus so he can join in during school! lol
YAY Avery!!!
We recently bought Matthew his first set of markers and coloring book-we got Crayola Wonders--it only colors on the paper!! The bad thing was he bit off the tip of one of the markers so...now his brother has a new set until we try again!
